"MAY OF 2015 MY MOTHER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH EARLY-ONSET ALZHEIMER'S AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 57.
I had just driven 14 hours from Colgate University to Chicago, my home town, after completing my first year of college. I went to bed that night, exhausted, and woke up to my mom's voice as she sat on the foot of my bed. With only half an eye and half an ear open, I wasn't prepared for the words she was about to utter: 'I have Alzheimer's.'
We CRIED, AND I HAD NO WORDS, NOTHING TO OFFER AS COMFORT.
I do not remember the dialogue that followed, but it was short and heart-wrenching. I remember the subsequent hours I spent in bed, unsure if I should tell my friends, unsure what to say, and unsure of the future. We were given little information on how to "prepare" and there were no drug trials open at the time.
Three weeks later I returned to Colgate, and in the following months communication became difficult. Conversations became less remarkable and I could see that different features within iPhone was becoming too complicated for her comfort.
I WANTED TO HELP THE SITUATION, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW HOW.
That's when I thought of Alz You Need, and after months of work, Alz You Need was founded in January of 2016. After running the product by professionals in the field and conducting focus groups, my team and I are confident that Alz You Need has the potential to help lives of many other families, like my own.
I MADE ALZ YOU NEED FOR MY FAMILY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MAY NEED IT FOR YOURS."
